So our journey toward Kilimanjaro took a little longer than expected. We weren’t able to get to the gates in vehicles so we had to add about 1.5 miles to our day 1 trek to the camp at Forest Ridge. And it was long and uphill! Lots of blue and colobus monkeys kept us awake at night … but no encounters with snakes or things like that!
On our second day we headed toward camp at Shira. It was longer … and more uphill! We went through the heath and down into the into the moorlands. And now we are standing together look at Mount Kilimanjaro. And it is huge. It. Is. Huge.
